Home Sweet Home

Great news! We finally have a house! That's right, for those of you who aren't aware, for nigh on 6 years we have been living in a bus, and a room that we built onto the side of it. We had to move to the farm at that time because of certain issues happening during the night on the farm that required our presence. Over the years our humble abode became more and more unsuitable for our needs, as our family grew, and we were quite desperate to build a proper house of our own. Well, the good news is: we finally have it - a home that we helped to design, that perfectly suits our needs, and that is self-funded.
Praise God, we are so blessed to have such a wonderful home and family.
We signed the contract to build in December 2009, and the building commenced on the 5th April 2010, after initial delays due to the muddy swamp our property had become during the wet season (see previous posts). Now perhaps our frustration with the wet and mud will make more sense ;)
Here's how things progressed:

The footings are dug, and plumbing put in place

The concrete slab is poured

The slab has cured, and the frames are delivered

The frame is erected

Miss A with her arm in a sling, every afternoon she and I would visit our new home as it was being built, after the workers had gone home

The blue foil is attached

A close-up shot as the gyprock is put in place

The bricks are up! Now it's looking like a house!

More pictures of the interior of our beautiful home will follow in the next few days (but we are still quite busy moving essential items to the new house, so please be patient), and I will also try to put up the diary of the construction process that we kept. Hope you've enjoyed the pics, check back soon for more! ;)
